In honor of his life and passing, the DSHF created a special commemorative pocket sized constitution booklet in 2023. This handsome keepsake has a black leatherette cover with gold leaf lettering. Because of the Dred Scott Decision of 1857, we have the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments, often called the Reconstruction Amendments, the Civil Rights Amendments and sometimes called the Dred Scott Amendments.

Documentary AMEND narrated by Will Smith Features Scott and Taney Descendants

Producer and actor Will Smith narrates this fresh look at ‘Who is America’ in this new documentary, “AMEND” on Netflix which started February 17, 2021 produced by The Documentary Group. The Dred Scott and Justice Taney families are featured in this six (6) part docuseries on the 14th Amendment.

In honor of Constitution Day, the Free to Chose Network is airing their 2020 production of A MORE OR LESS PERFECTION UNION, exploring the constitution in three one hour segments, featuring the Dred Scott case. This is the third Dred Scott Freedom Awards Dinner. Several deserving individuals will be honored on Saturday, March 28th at the St. Louis Hilton Frontenac Hotel at 1335 S. Lindbergh Blvd, in St. Louis, MO. This year, our Honorary Chairman is Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg, producer of the 3-part PBS documentary on the Constitution. A More or Less Perfect Union was released on January 25, 2020 and features Lynne M. Jackson (Dred Scott), Keith Plessy (Homer Plessy), and Phoebe Ferguson (John Ferguson).

Teachers, you’re invited to attend a very special professional development session on Wed Nov 6, 2019, 4:00-6:00 pm.  Meet First Amendment heroes, hear their stories, and gather techniques and resources to use in the classroom.
