Give STL Day!
The Foundation is working to create a memorial monument for Dred Scott at Calvary Cemetery. For 90 years Mr. Scott lay in an unmarked and unknown grave. In 1957, his site was discovered and a simple marker was place over him. We are planning a new black granite memorial over the three plots that were purchased for him in accordance with regulations regarding racially segregated cemeteries. It will stand 9′ high with a 10 ‘X 10’ base and two mediation benches. Significant production time requires us to order it by late Spring as it our hope to have the new monument installed for the 165th anniversary year in 2022. The time is now.

DAR MEDALS AWARDED TO DRED SCOTT DESCENDANT FOR HISTORY PRESERVATION
On April 17, 2021, the National Daughters of the American Revolution presented the National History Award Medal to Lynne Jackson. The Webster Groves Chapter nominated and vetted her for this as well as for the DAR Women in American History Medal. Thanks to Susan Favazza, Past Chapter Regent, Sylvia Stoll, Anita Motz, Chapter Regent and Caroline Green Chapter Historian for the intense work to make this happen. Ms. Sylvia Stoll was extraordinarily diligent to vet the process to get approval from the Historian General. Jackson is only the 8th person in Missouri to receive this highly vetted award in 40 years, since 1981 which she received with extreme gratitude for the recognition of her work in the Foundation.
In 2016, Lynne received the National Medal of Honor from President General Lynn Forney Young.
The DAR and DUV continue to request historical presentations from the Dred Scott Heritage Foundation and they seek to continue to reconcile our histories. There are many African American members and chapters of the DAR around the country.

A new memorial for Dred Scott at calvary cemetery
The above is a structural rendition of the new Dred Scott Cemetery Memorial. There will be text sharing the history of the case and the family written throughout the monument.
Thank you all who have donated. We have an opportunity to dedicate this on Juneteenth 2021 if we raise the money by
December 15, 2020. The nine foot high, ten by ten area will be black granite with two benches. Share it far and wide on social media, let’s make this happen! Your support will help us see this in 2021.
September 17th is Constitution Day. Dred Scott’s connection to the Constitution is inescapable. So much so, that the Amendments that helped bring down the undignified aspects of slavery are also known as the Dred Scott Amendments.
On this 162nd anniversary of his death, September 17, 1858, the foundation that bears his name seeks to honor him with a new grave site memorial. Constitution Day 2020 the Dred Scott Heritage Foundation launched the Dred Scott Memorial Go Fund Me
Campaign.
